Roblox’s new AI model can generate 3D objects 🤖 

Roblox has introduced Cube 3D, its new AI model designed to generate 3D objects from text prompts. This foundational model, which is now open-source, aims to make 3D creation more efficient and accessible for developers and creators. Cube 3D tokenizes 3D objects, similar to how language models process words, and predicts the next shape in a sequence to build complete 3D models ✅ 

Currently, Cube 3D supports mesh generation, allowing developers to create 3D assets quickly by entering simple prompts like "a vintage green couch with velvet material." These assets can be further refined with textures, colors, and other details. Future updates will enable Cube 3D to generate objects using images as inputs and even create full scenes 😳 

Roblox plans to integrate Cube 3D with its existing AI tools, making it a multimodal model capable of handling text, images, and videos. This is expected to significantly reduce the time required for asset creation, empowering developers to focus on broader design aspects 🧑‍💻 

Gemini removes watermarks from images 👀

Google's latest AI model, Gemini 2.0 Flash, has sparked controversy due to its ability to remove watermarks from images. Originally designed for image generation and editing, the model has a feature that not only erases watermarks but also fills in the gaps left behind, making the images appear untouched 😳 

This capability has raised significant concerns among copyright holders, as removing watermarks without permission is illegal in many jurisdictions. While other AI models, like OpenAI's GPT-4o and Anthropic's Claude 3.7, refuse to perform such tasks citing ethical concerns, Gemini 2.0 Flash has fewer restrictions 👀 

Currently, the feature is labeled as "experimental" and is accessible only through Google's AI Studio, a platform for developers. Despite its limitations, such as struggling with semi-transparent or large watermarks, the tool's effectiveness has drawn attention and criticism.

xAI latest AI acquisition 🤖 

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has acquired Hotshot, a startup specializing in AI-powered video generation tools. Hotshot, founded by Aakash Sastry and John Mullan, initially focused on AI-powered photo creation but later pivoted to text-to-video AI models. The company developed three video foundation models: Hotshot-XL, Hotshot Act One, and Hotshot, which allow users to create short videos from text prompts ✅ 

This acquisition aligns with xAI's plans to expand its capabilities in video generation, potentially competing with platforms like OpenAI's Sora and Google's Veo 2.

Musk has hinted at integrating video-generating models into xAI's Grok chatbot platform, with a "Grok Video" model expected in the coming months 📆

Hotshot has announced it will discontinue new video creation, giving existing users until March 30 to download their content. The financial terms of the deal and the fate of Hotshot's staff remain undisclosed.

Google is replacing Google Assistant with Gemini 🗣️ 

Google has announced that it will replace Google Assistant with its advanced AI model, Gemini, across Android devices and other platforms later this year 📱 

The transition will begin with mobile users, and eventually extend to tablets, cars, and connected devices like headphones and smartwatches.

Gemini, which was launched last year, offers enhanced capabilities such as image generation, text summarization, and multimodal interactions. It also integrates with third-party apps like WhatsApp and Spotify, and introduces features like "Gemini Live" for natural voice interactions ✅ 

While Gemini has addressed some gaps from its initial rollout, such as adding support for timers and media playback, it still lacks full support for automation features like "Routines".

Google plans to expand Gemini's reach to home devices, including smart speakers, displays, and TVs. Until the transition is complete, Google Assistant will continue to function on existing devices.

2. Ask for a daily news brief with specific preferences and timing. Here’s the prompt I used:

   
   “Every day at 8 AM, send me a concise global news summary focusing on major developments in politics, technology, and business. Keep it under 5 bullet points and highlight any unexpected stories.”

3. Adjust and personalize the summary format and topics directly from the Tasks menu.
