OpenAI vs. Elon Musk (once again) 👀 

Elon Musk has filed a preliminary injunction to halt OpenAI's transition to a fully for-profit business structure 👀 

Musk's legal team argues that this shift could harm competition and reduce consumer choice by discouraging investors from supporting rival companies like his own xAI.

The motion also accuses OpenAI of engaging in self-dealing and improper sharing of competitive information with Microsoft.

Musk also alleges that OpenAI has discouraged investors from backing its competitors like xAI through restrictive investment terms.

OpenAI called Musk’s fourth legal action a “recycling of the same baseless complaints” and “without merit”.

The name "David Mayer" has been causing ChatGPT to crash due to a glitch in OpenAI's privacy tools 👀 

Users discovered that asking ChatGPT about "David Mayer" would cause the chatbot to freeze or fail to respond.

This issue isn't limited to just David Mayer; other names like Brian Hood, Jonathan Turley, Jonathan Zittrain, David Faber, and Guido Scorza also trigger similar responses 🤷 

The root cause appears to be related to privacy requests. These individuals might have requested that certain information about them be restricted or "forgotten" by AI models and search engines.

OpenAI confirmed that their internal privacy tools flagged these names, leading to the unexpected behaviour 🤖 

ChatGPT to have ads? 📰 

OpenAI is considering introducing advertisements to ChatGPT, despite founder Sam Altman's reservations 😥 

CFO Sarah Friar mentioned that while the company is exploring an ad-based model, but there are no active plans to pursue advertising at the moment.

The idea is to be thoughtful about when and where ads might appear, balancing the need for revenue with user experience.

This move comes as OpenAI seeks to cover the high costs of developing and maintaining its AI tools. The company has primarily relied on subscriptions and API access fees but is now looking at additional revenue streams.

Altman has expressed discomfort with the idea of ads, describing the combination of ads and AI as uniquely unsettling (same, Altman, same! 🥹)

Musk launching standalone app for xAI? 📱 

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, is reportedly preparing to launch a standalone app for its Grok chatbot as early as December. This move would position Grok as a direct competitor to established AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and Anthropic's Claude, all of which already offer dedicated apps and free access tiers ✅ 

Currently, Grok is accessible through X app (formerly Twitter) but only for subscribers to the platform's paid service.

A standalone app could help xAI scale its offerings and reach a broader audience, putting it in closer competition with rivals in the increasingly crowded AI landscape.
