BREAKING AI NEWS
Greg is BACK in OpenAI ✅
OpenAI has welcomed back a key executive, Greg Brockman, who returned after a three-month sabbatical.
Brockman, a co-founder and former president of OpenAI, had taken a leave of absence but is now back at the company. His return comes at a crucial time, as OpenAI has recently experienced several high-profile departures, including CTO Mira Murati and Chief Research Officer Bob McGrew 😬
Brockman announced his return on X, stating that he is ready to get back to building at OpenAI:
longest vacation of my life complete. back to building @OpenAI.

He is currently working with CEO Sam Altman to define a new role that will focus on significant technical challenges 🤔
Sam Altman’s WILD AI prediction 🤔
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman predicts that Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) could be achieved by 2025 📆
In a recent interview with Y Combinator's Gary Tan, Altman stated that the path to AGI is "basically clear" and will require engineering rather than new scientific breakthroughs 🧑💻
Despite some reports of slower progress in LLM development, Altman remains confident that AGI is within reach.
He also mentioned that OpenAI's recent advancements have surpassed public expectations, and the company has a clear plan to achieve AGI.
Altman also highlighted that the rumored "Orion" model shows smaller improvements over GPT-4, especially in coding tasks, but the company is forming a new "Foundations Team" to tackle fundamental challenges such as the scarcity of high-quality training data ✅

X is testing a free version of Grok 🤝
X is testing a free version of its AI chatbot Grok, which was previously available only to premium users.
The free version is currently being tested in specific regions, including New Zealand.
Users on the free tier can make up to 10 queries every two hours with the Grok-2 model and 20 queries every two hours with the Grok-2 mini model.
Additionally, users can analyze up to three images per day.
To access the free version, your account must be at least seven days old and linked to a phone number 📱
This move is likely aimed at expanding Grok's user base and gathering more feedback to improve the product. Will you be using it?

YouTube’s NEW AI feature for creators ✅
YouTube has introduced a new feature allowing select creators in the U.S. to remix songs using AI prompts ✨
This feature enables creators to describe how they want to change the style of a song, generating a 30-second snippet that can be used in their Shorts. The remixed sound snippet will be attributed to the original song and clearly labeled as AI-modified 🎵
This new capability builds on YouTube's Dream Track feature, which was launched in November 2023 and allows users to create tracks by humming a tune.
The initiative aims to help artists and creators stretch their imaginations and enhance their creative processes
Perplexity brings ads to its platform📱
Perplexity, the AI-powered search engine, is starting its ads experiment this week. The ads will appear in the U.S. and will be formatted as "sponsored follow-up questions" that will be positioned next to answers and clearly labeled as "sponsored" 🤔
This move is part of Perplexity's strategy to generate revenue and share it with publisher partners, as subscriptions alone have not been sufficient to create a sustainable revenue-sharing program 🤑
The ads will be generated by Perplexity's AI and NOT written or edited by the brands sponsoring the questions. This maintains the utility, accuracy, and objectivity of the answers while integrating advertising in a way that complements the user experience ✅
Some of the first brand and agency partners include Indeed, Whole Foods, Universal McCann, and PMG.
