OpenAI brings ChatGPT to your landline and WhatsApp 📲 

The 12 days of “ship-mas” continues as OpenAI has introduced a new way to access ChatGPT: through landlines. By calling 1-800-CHATGPT, users can interact with ChatGPT without needing a smartphone or internet connection.

The experience is similar to Advanced Voice Mode, where ChatGPT responds to user questions and can handle tasks like translating sentences into different languages. OpenAI is offering 15 minutes of free calling for U.S. users.

Additionally, for users outside US; ChatGPT will be available on WhatsApp by messaging on the same number.

As with ChatGPT on the phone, you don’t need an account. OpenAI says it’s working on additional features for the WhatsApp experience like image analysis and web search, but no word on when those might ship 🤷 

This is a BIG win for AI as it will make ChatGPT more accessible to a broader audience!

Google is coming for OpenAI 👀 

Google has unveiled Veo 2, its latest AI video generation model, designed to rival OpenAI's Sora. Veo 2 generates highly detailed and realistic videos across a wide range of styles and topics, significantly reducing errors like extra fingers or unexpected objects that often plague other AI models 📽️ 

The model excels in capturing real-world physics, human movement, and expressions, enhancing overall realism ✅ 

Veo 2 allows users to specify genres, lenses, and cinematic effects to generate videos up to 4K resolution, lasting several minutes. It also includes an invisible SynthID watermark to identify AI-generated content, helping reduce misinformation.

Currently, access to Veo 2 is restricted to Google Labs' VideoFX, with new users able to sign up for the waitlist.

Google plans to integrate Veo 2 with YouTube Shorts and other products in 2025. This launch follows closely on the heels of OpenAI's release of Sora, intensifying the competition in AI video generation 👀

YouTube partners with CCA for safe AI 🤝 

YouTube is stepping up its efforts to combat AI-generated deepfakes and unauthorized use of celebrities' and creators' likenesses.

Partnering with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA), YouTube will test new tools early next year to help celebrities and athletes identify and remove AI-generated content that uses their likeness. These tools will later be available to top YouTube creators and other leading partners ✅ 

The initiative includes "synthetic-singing identification technology" to detect AI-generated content that mimics creators' singing voices. YouTube has already started allowing music labels to request the removal of AI-generated songs that resemble their artists. Additionally, YouTube introduced a policy requiring creators to label videos containing AI-generated content earlier this year.

This will give celebrities and creators more control over their digital identities and protect them from the misuse of AI technology 🛡️ 

Samsung reveals release date for Galaxy S25 📱 

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S25 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22, 2025.

The event will showcase the much-anticipated Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra, with significant upgrades expected across the lineup, including the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and improved cameras. Additionally, Samsung's "Project Moohan" XR headset is also expected to be featured 👀
