OpenAI acquired Chat.com 🌐 

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman confirmed the acquisition of the domain “chat.com” on November 6, which now redirects users directly to ChatGPT 🤖 

The domain was previously owned by Dharmesh Shah, the co-founder and CTO of HubSpot. Shah had purchased Chat.com for $15.5 million in early 2023, anticipating the rise of chat-based user experiences (ChatUX) 📈 

Shah sold the domain to OpenAI, reportedly receiving OpenAI shares as part of the payment 🤔 

The shift from "ChatGPT" to simply "chat" could signify OpenAI's bigger vision away from the GPT era, and aligns with OpenAI's strategy to streamline access to ChatGPT.

Microsoft has introduced a new feature called Themes by Copilot for Outlook, which leverages generative AI to create personalized themes. Here are the key details 👇️ 

• Users with a Copilot Pro subscription can create themes based on their personal preferences. These themes can be inspired by over 100 curated locations or even the user's own location 🌎️ 
  

• The themes can dynamically update every few hours, daily, weekly, or monthly. For example, a theme based on the weather will reflect the current weather conditions 😲 
  

• Users can choose to view their themes in different styles, such as realistic, oil painting, or cartoon 🎨 

These AI-generated themes are available on Outlook for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and the web!

A major employee shift from Meta to OpenAI 💻️ 

Caitlin Kalinowski, the former hardware lead for Meta’s Orion AR project, has joined OpenAI to spearhead its robotics and consumer hardware initiatives 📈 

In her new role, she aims to focus on integrating AI into the physical world, which could lead to exciting developments in robotics and possibly new consumer devices 🤔 

Kalinowski has a strong background in hardware, having previously worked on Meta’s AR glasses and VR products, as well as at Apple, where she contributed to the MacBook line 🤯

Upgrade ChatGPT from iPhone settings 🤔 

With the upcoming iOS 18.2 update, expected to roll out in December, users will have the option to upgrade to ChatGPT Plus directly within the Settings app.

It’s likely that Apple will take a commission on these subscriptions, which is a common practice for in-app purchases ✅
